2024 Republican nomination: Full results of RNC roll call vote by states

Republican governors, lawmakers, and nearly 2,500 delegates have gathered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the Republican National Convention. During a roll call vote of the state delegations on Monday, former President Donald Trump formally received the party’s 2024 nomination for president.

The roll call vote marked the official end of the GOP presidential primary, with Trump being the presumptive GOP nominee for the upcoming presidential election against President Biden. Trump secured the nomination in March after reaching the required 1,215 Republican delegates.

As the roll call was underway, Trump announced Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance as his vice-presidential running mate. Trump is scheduled to deliver a speech accepting the Republican presidential nomination on the final day of the convention on Thursday.

Florida’s 125 votes for Trump, delivered by his son Eric Trump, officially nominated Trump for president. Accompanied by Donald Trump Jr. and Tiffany Trump, his eldest son and daughter, respectively, Eric Trump made the announcement during the convention.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, the convention chair, revealed that Trump received 2,387 votes out of the total cast.

“Let’s make it official,” said Johnson. “Accordingly, the chair announces that President Donald J. Trump, having received a majority of the votes entitled to be cast at the convention, has been selected as the Republican Party nominee for president of the United States.”

State delegations announced their votes for the presidential nomination, with various states and territories pledging their support to Trump. Here is the breakdown of votes from each state and territory:

Iowa: 40 votes for Trump
Nevada: 26 votes for Trump
Oklahoma: 43 votes for Trump
… (and so on with the rest of the states and territories)

During the roll call, the head of each state and territory’s delegation announced their respective nominations for president. Delegates, bound to vote in accordance with their state’s primary or caucus outcomes, represented their areas at the convention. Trump came into the convention with an estimated 2,243 delegates based on earlier primary and caucus results.

Former rival Nikki Haley, who had secured 94 delegates during the primary elections, endorsed Trump at the convention. State party rules dictated that delegates bound to her were released to vote for Trump since she withdrew from the presidential race. Notably, in Iowa, Trump received the entire delegation’s votes as the sole nominee.

As Trump officially secured the Republican nomination for president, the Republican National Convention continues to unfold in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with various speakers and events lined up for the remainder of the week.
