Adam Schiff suggests Biden should drop out of the presidential race as Democratic support declines.

Powerful Democratic California Rep. Adam Schiff has recently made a bold and controversial call for President Biden to drop out of the 2024 race. Schiff, who was selected as one of the “top two” Senate primary winners in California, is set to face Republican candidate Steve Garvey in November for the seat of the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

Despite praising Biden for his accomplishments in office and acknowledging his significant contributions to the nation, Schiff pointed out that the country is currently at a crossroads. He emphasized that the decision to withdraw from the race ultimately lies with the president, but he believes it is time for Biden to pass the torch to secure his legacy of leadership and pave the way for defeating Donald Trump in the upcoming election.

While Schiff’s call for Biden to step aside has sparked controversy, he made it clear that regardless of who becomes the Democratic nominee, his ultimate goal is to defeat Trump. Schiff’s announcement has made him the 20th congressional Democrat to urge Biden to exit the race, making him the most prominent House Democrat to do so.

Other congressional Democrats who have joined Schiff in calling on Biden to drop out of the 2024 election include Representatives Earl Blumenauer, Ed Case, Angie Craig, Lloyd Doggett, Raul Grijalva, Jim Himes, Mike Levin, Seth Moulton, Scott Peters, Brittany Pettersen, Mike Quigley, Pat Ryan, Brad Schneider, Hillary Scholten, Mikie Sherrill, Adam Smith, Eric Sorensen, Greg Stanton, and Senator Peter Welch.

Senator Welch, in fact, was the first Democratic senator to advocate for Biden to exit the race. Schiff’s statement urging Biden to withdraw comes shortly after reports emerged that he privately expressed doubts about the president’s chances of defeating Trump, stating, “I think if he is our nominee, I think we lose.”

During a recent appearance on NBC News, Schiff voiced public concerns about Biden’s performance, questioning whether the president has the energy and vigor required to defeat Trump. These remarks have added to the growing debate within the Democratic party about Biden’s candidacy and the path forward for the party in the upcoming election.
