ASM Global hires Meg Walker as Director of Arena Operations.
MELBOURNE, Australia – The live entertainment industry is abuzz with excitement as veteran professional Meagan (Meg) Walker gears up to join ASM Global (APAC) as the group director of arena operations. This move, set to take place on Oct. 10, marks a significant shift as Walker transitions from her role at Live Nation to take charge of ASM Global’s arena network in Australia, along with providing support to other arena venues across the region. Her responsibilities will include event acquisition, operational planning for optimal patron experience, and seamless event delivery.
Walker brings a wealth of experience to her new position, having held senior management roles at some of Australia’s most iconic venues such as Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena, John Cain Arena, and Palais Theatre. Her extensive background in venue management makes her a perfect fit to step into the shoes of Tim Worton, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
A key aspect of Walker’s role will be mentoring the next generation of aspiring venue managers, fostering talent within the company and contributing to its continued growth. ASM Global is currently experiencing rapid expansion and development of its entertainment venue portfolio in Australia, the Asia Pacific, and MENA regions, with a global presence operating over 400 venues on five continents.
“I am excited to be a part of ASM Global’s journey towards maintaining a strong performance and growth in its venue portfolio. I look forward to collaborating with stakeholders, supporting the team in achieving their goals, and upholding ASM arenas’ reputation for world-class practices,” says Walker, expressing her enthusiasm for the new role.
Meanwhile, the industry bids farewell to Tim Worton, a stalwart in the entertainment business, as he embarks on a new chapter in his career. After 33 years of dedication to the live entertainment scene, including 25 years with ASM Global (formerly AEG Ogden), Worton will retire at the end of the year to pursue full-time studies at Moore Theological College in Sydney. Upon completion, he aims to venture into pastoral, chaplaincy, or ministry roles, showcasing his commitment to personal growth and development.
During this period of transition, Worton will work closely with Walker to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities. His tenure for the past 19 years as the group director of arenas for APAC has left an indelible mark on the industry, and his collaboration with Walker signifies a passing of the torch from one seasoned professional to another, paving the way for continued success and innovation in the live entertainment landscape.
