The Biden re-election campaign remains steadfast in its commitment to utilizing TikTok as a platform to connect with voters, despite the looming threat of a nationwide ban if the social media app’s China-based parent company fails to divest within the specified timeframe.

Embracing the necessity of engaging with voters on various digital platforms, a Biden campaign official stressed the importance of reaching out to individuals online, including through TikTok. The campaign intends to leverage all available tools to reach young voters and has assured the implementation of enhanced security measures.

While initial reports indicated that the 2024 campaign would not incorporate TikTok into its outreach strategy, the decision was later reversed, leading to the launch of the @bidenhq account in February. This official account, boasting over 306,000 followers and nearly 120 posts, primarily features content related to Joe Biden, despite concerns raised by the White House regarding data integrity on the platform.

In contrast, Biden’s political adversary, former President Donald Trump, has not ventured onto TikTok, making the incumbent president a prominent figure within this digital space. A campaign official indicated that it is premature to determine whether Biden’s presence on TikTok will persist in the future.

The Biden campaign anticipates potential legal challenges to the legislation that could impede the enforcement of a ban on TikTok in the United States. Acknowledging the apprehensions of young users regarding the fate of their favored app, campaign aides sought to reassure this demographic that the decision would not compromise the campaign’s rapport with them.
