Biden continues busy schedule despite needing to slow down.

President Biden has recently faced concerns from members of his own party about his fitness to serve as president, prompting him to defend his ability to handle a rigorous schedule ahead of the 2024 election.

During a NATO press conference, Biden addressed a New York Times report claiming he planned to stop scheduling events after 8 p.m. to get more sleep. The president clarified that he simply intended to pace himself better and make slight adjustments to his daily routine to avoid burnout.

Expressing frustration, Biden mentioned that his staff sometimes adds events to his schedule without his approval, leading to unnecessary stress. Despite these challenges, the president highlighted the numerous events he has attended since his contentious debate performance against former President Trump in June.

In an effort to prioritize self-care and avoid exhaustion, Biden plans to spend the weekend at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, after participating in a campaign event in Michigan on Friday. Following this respite, he will engage in high-stakes interviews next week amid the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Biden’s upcoming interviews include a session with “NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt and discussions with Black and Latino national media outlets. These interactions are crucial as the president seeks to address concerns about his age and mental acuity among voters.

A recent poll from ABC News and the Washington Post revealed that a significant majority of Americans believe Biden should drop out of the race, citing doubts about his age and ability to serve another term. Despite this sentiment, the poll indicated a close race between Biden and Trump, emphasizing the importance of convincing constituents of his readiness for reelection.

Amid mounting pressure, 18 elected Democrats have called on Biden to step aside in the White House race. With public opinion divided, the president faces a critical juncture in his campaign as he navigates challenges within his own party and strives to maintain voter support.
