Biden fights back in interview with Lester Holt

President Joe Biden stands firm in his resolve to prove himself as a capable leader, dismissing calls for him to step aside and confidently asserting his readiness for another presidential campaign. In a recent interview with NBC News anchor Lester Holt at the White House, Biden pushed back against suggestions that he needed to “get back on the horse” after a lackluster debate performance against GOP nominee Donald Trump.

“I’m on the horse. Where have you been? I’ve done 22 major events, met thousands of people, and faced overwhelming crowds. There’s a lot happening, and I’m on the horse,” Biden emphasized.

He proceeded to showcase his strength and mental acuity, pointing to his almost hour-long press conference at the NATO summit in Washington as evidence of his command of all his faculties.

Throughout the interview, Biden expressed frustration with the media’s focus on his perceived flaws rather than on his opponent. He questioned why journalists had not highlighted the numerous untruths uttered by Trump during the debate or the critical statements made by Senator JD Vance before becoming the vice presidential candidate.

“He’s said some things about me, but have you seen what he said about Trump? What’s with you guys? C’mon, man,” Biden remarked.

Regarding Trump’s choice of Vance as his running mate, Biden was not surprised, suggesting that Trump would surround himself with individuals who shared his views entirely.

Addressing concerns about his fitness for the race, Biden brushed off suggestions that he had not yet decided whether to continue, emphasizing that he has the support of millions of voters who believed in him as the Democratic Party’s nominee.

“There’s essentially a toss-up race between us. I’ve received the backing of 14 million people who voted for me, and I value their trust in me,” Biden affirmed.

When questioned about his rhetoric towards Trump and whether it may have incited the recent assassination attempt against the GOP candidate, Biden disclosed that his conversation with Trump post-incident was respectful but brief. He reiterated his confidence in the Secret Service’s protection while acknowledging the need to evaluate their readiness for such events.

“The question remains – could they have anticipated the incident? Should they have taken steps to prevent it? These are valid inquiries that need to be addressed,” Biden stated.

As President Joe Biden stands his ground and dismisses doubts about his capabilities, the political landscape remains tense and uncertain. His unwavering determination to prove himself to the American people underscores his commitment to leading the nation with strength and resilience.
