Biden goes back to Delaware after son’s guilty verdict
President Joe Biden made a sudden departure from Washington, D.C., back to Wilmington, Delaware, on Tuesday following the news that his son, Hunter Biden, had been found guilty on gun possession charges by a federal jury. The White House announced the change in schedule after all three counts against Hunter were confirmed.
Despite the familial legal issues, Joe Biden took the stage at the “Gun Sense University” conference in Washington Hilton, where he discussed his efforts to combat gun violence and commended the activists in attendance for their dedication. He struck an optimistic tone, emphasizing the importance of changing public attitudes towards gun safety.
Although the president did not address his son’s guilty verdict during his speech, he later released a statement expressing pride in Hunter’s recovery from addiction and resilience in the face of legal challenges. First Lady Jill Biden, who stood by Hunter throughout the trial, was mentioned in the statement as well.
As President Biden prepares to depart for the G7 conference in Italy, he has not publicly commented on the verdict but has indicated respect for the judicial process and Hunter’s right to appeal the decision. The President reassured his unwavering support for his son and the entire family, expressing that their love and support will remain steadfast regardless of the outcome of the case.
Despite the personal challenges facing the Biden family, the president remains focused on his duties, including attending important global summits and addressing pressing issues both at home and abroad.
