Biden is willing to debate Trump before next election

Welcome to Boston Post News! Today, we bring you an exciting update on the upcoming 2024 presidential election. President Biden has publicly expressed his willingness to debate former President Donald Trump, his presumed Republican opponent, leading up to the general election in November.

During an interview on Howard Stern’s show on SiriusXM, President Biden was asked if he would be open to debating his rival, to which he replied, “I am, somewhere. I don’t know when. I am happy to debate him.” This marks President Biden’s first public acknowledgment of his readiness to engage in a debate with Trump.

In previous statements, President Biden had mentioned that his decision to participate in a debate with Trump would depend on his opponent’s behavior. However, when asked about a potential debate during a trip to Nevada, President Biden confidently stated, “If I were him, I’d want him to debate me, too. He’s got nothing else to do.”

President Trump and his campaign have been urging President Biden to publicly commit to a debate, with Trump even taking to Truth Social to address the issue. Trump emphasized his willingness to debate President Biden “ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, ANYPLACE,” expressing a strong desire to face off against his Democratic counterpart.

Major news organizations, including CBS News and 11 other outlets, have also joined the call for the two candidates to confirm their participation in a debate leading up to the election. The pressure is mounting as the public eagerly awaits a showdown between President Biden and former President Trump.

The relationship between Trump and the GOP with the Commission on Presidential Debates has been rocky, with the RNC voting to ban future GOP nominees from participating in debates arranged by the committee. Trump notably did not take part in any GOP primary debates in 2024, citing his lead in polls over his competitors.

However, in a letter to the CPD in April, Trump’s campaign advisers expressed their agreement with the television networks’ call for an earlier start to the general election debates. They emphasized Trump’s readiness to debate “anytime, anyplace, and anywhere,” underscoring the urgency to kickstart these crucial discussions.

In the 2020 election, President Biden and Trump engaged in two debates, with one event being canceled due to Trump testing positive for COVID-19. Looking ahead to 2024, the CPD has already announced the dates for three presidential debates on September 16, October 1, and October 9, alongside a vice presidential debate on September 25.

As the anticipation builds for the upcoming debates between President Biden and former President Trump, stay tuned for more updates on this high-stakes showdown that is set to shape the future of the 2024 presidential election.
