Biden says European trips led to bad debate, almost fell asleep on stage

President Biden recently admitted that his poor performance in the presidential debate was a result of his hectic travel schedule to Europe. Speaking at a campaign fundraiser in Virginia, Biden expressed regret for not being at his best during the debate, attributing it to his extensive travel across the globe.

During the event, Biden acknowledged that he made a mistake by traveling extensively right before the debate and not heeding the advice of his staff. He even candidly remarked that he almost fell asleep on stage, highlighting the impact of his travel on his mental alertness.

Despite his lackluster performance at the debate, Biden emphasized the importance of winning the upcoming presidential election in November. He admitted that his travel schedule was not an excuse but rather an explanation for his subpar showing.

The president also mentioned that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) had raised significant funds since the debate, giving him confidence in the support for his candidacy. Biden’s recent travels included a visit to France for D-Day commemorations, followed by attendance at the G-7 Summit in Italy.

Prior to the debate against former President Trump in Atlanta, Biden engaged in mock debates with his team at Camp David. His preparation included role-playing exercises with his personal attorney, Bob Bauer, portraying Trump. The team assisting Biden in his debate preparation was led by former White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain and comprised other key officials.

Despite the extensive debate preparation, Biden’s family members later criticized his staff for not adequately preparing him to be more aggressive and for failing to focus on outlining his vision for the future. They also expressed concerns that he was overworked and not given sufficient rest before the debate.

As calls for Biden to step down from his re-election bid mount, the president remains determined to push forward with his campaign. The pressure on him to withdraw from the race persists, with some Democrats advocating for a new nominee to represent the party in the election.

Despite the challenges and criticisms directed at him, Biden is resolute in his commitment to securing victory in the upcoming election. His acknowledgment of his shortcomings and determination to improve his performance demonstrate his unwavering dedication to the campaign.

The upcoming days are crucial for Biden as he seeks to regain momentum and dispel doubts about his ability to lead the nation effectively. With the support of the DNC and his campaign team, Biden remains focused on his goal of winning the presidency in November and shaping a better future for the country.

As the election draws near, all eyes are on Biden as he navigates the challenges and pressures of the campaign trail. His resilience and determination in the face of adversity will be key in determining the outcome of the race and the future of American politics.
