Biden tells Trump to stop spreading misinformation about hurricanes.

President Joe Biden showed no hesitation in slamming former President Donald Trump for spreading misinformation regarding the federal response to hurricanes Helene and Milton during a recent press conference. The Democratic leader did not mince words as he addressed the false claims made by his predecessor.

When questioned about his discussions with Trump on the matter, Biden’s response was clear: “Are you kidding me?” He then directly addressed Trump, saying, “Mr. President Trump, former President Trump, get a life, man. Help these people.”

Biden specifically refuted a rumor circulating that disaster relief assistance was capped at $750, calling it a blatant lie. “That $750 that they’re talking about, Mr. Trump and all those other people know it’s a lie to suggest that’s all they’re going to get,” he emphasized.

The President did not stop there, expressing his frustration with the spread of misinformation and criticizing those behind it. “It’s bizarre,” Biden stated. “You’ve got to stop this. I mean, they’re being so damn un-American with the way they’re talking about this stuff.”

On top of the $750 assistance rumor, Trump has also wrongly insinuated that FEMA redirected disaster funds to migrant aid and accused the government of withholding aid from regions that lean Republican. Such misinformation has flooded the airwaves to the extent that FEMA has proactively addressed the false claims on its website.

Hurricane Milton caused significant devastation in Florida along the Gulf Coast, claiming at least 13 lives according to reports. The aftermath is marked by widespread power outages, numerous tornadoes, and even structural damage to prominent buildings like Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.

Biden’s robust response to Trump’s misinformation campaign underscores the importance of setting the record straight amidst ongoing natural disasters. As the nation grapples with the impact of hurricanes Helene and Milton, the focus must remain on providing accurate information and tangible support to affected communities.
