Biden to talk with two Democrat groups before important interviews from home in Delaware

While in Rehoboth Beach, Biden is expected to participate in two conference calls on Saturday with House Democrats from the New Dems Coalition and the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Notably, thirteen members of the New Dems Coalition have called for the president to step aside in the 2024 race, reflecting the internal tensions within the Democratic Party.

In addition to his scheduled calls, there is speculation that President Biden may attend a church service during his weekend retreat. Despite the tranquil surroundings, Biden finds himself facing mounting pressure from within his own party to reconsider his candidacy for the White House.

When Biden returns to his official duties next week, he will be gearing up for a series of crucial interviews amidst the backdrop of the Republican National Convention set to take place in Milwaukee. One highlight of his schedule includes a taped, one-on-one interview with “NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt in Austin, Texas, on Monday. This interview, scheduled to air at 9 p.m. ET the same day, will provide Biden with a platform to address key issues and concerns.

According to senior correspondent Dylan Byers of Puck News, President Biden will also engage in two more interviews the following week. He is slated for an interview with a “Black national media outlet” during the NAACP Conference on Tuesday and another interview with a “Latino national media outlet” on Wednesday. Despite widespread calls for him to withdraw from the race, President Biden remains resolute in his determination to stay in the running. At a rally in Detroit, Michigan, on Friday, Biden reaffirmed his commitment to his supporters, declaring, “You made me the nominee, no one else. I’m not going anywhere.” This statement underscores his belief in the voters who have placed their trust in him.

However, recent polling data from ABC News and the Washington Post reveals a stark reality for Biden. A majority of Americans, including a substantial portion of his own supporters, believe that he should drop out of the presidential race. The poll indicates that 67% of respondents view Biden as too old to serve a second term, reflecting concerns about his age and fitness for office.

Despite these challenges, the poll also shows that Biden and his opponent, former President Trump, are virtually neck and neck in voter support. While voters express doubts about Biden’s candidacy, the race remains tight, with 46% backing Biden and 47% supporting Trump. This data underscores the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming election.
