Biden visits daughter-in-law before her testimony in Hunter Biden trial

President Biden recently paid a visit to his daughter-in-law’s home, Hallie Biden, just days before the ninth anniversary of the passing of his son, Beau Biden, who was married to Hallie. The president’s brief visit to Hallie Biden’s home also comes ahead of her expected testimony as a witness in Hunter Biden’s upcoming gun crime trial. Hunter Biden, the first son, is facing charges for allegedly making false statements on a federal form while purchasing a firearm back in 2018. Hallie Biden is likely to be called to testify in the trial.

Despite the looming trial, a reporter from NBC News faced backlash for highlighting Hallie’s connection to the case on social media. However, Biden allies defended the visit, noting that there was nothing inappropriate about President Biden spending time with his family.

Judge Maryellen Noreika specified that Special Counsel David Weiss must demonstrate that Hunter Biden was addicted to drugs, although it does not necessarily mean that he was actively using drugs on the day he purchased the firearm.

Hunter Biden’s defense team filed court documents requesting the exclusion of certain sensitive details from being presented to the jury due to the risk of unfair bias. The defense team aimed to prevent any mention of Hunter’s involvement in child support proceedings in Arkansas, as well as his discharge from the Navy. These references are related to a child he fathered outside of marriage with Lunden Roberts, a former stripper, whose daughter is President Biden’s grandchild.

Moreover, in a “motion in limine,” Hunter Biden’s legal team urged the court to refrain from including details such as alleged drug purchases, ATM withdrawals, and the purchase of the revolver made by Hunter in the trial. They argued that references to expenses allegedly linked to “adult entertainment, online chat rooms, or escort services” are irrelevant to the charges brought against him.
