Biden will continue working on policies after leaving office.
President Biden assures the American people that he will not fade into the background after leaving the Oval Office in January. In his recent appearance on ABC’s “The View,” he expressed his commitment to continuing his work on both foreign and domestic policy matters. As he prepares to depart from the White House after a long career in public service, Mr. Biden shared his intentions to remain active in shaping the country’s future.
Following his departure, President Biden plans to focus on domestic policy initiatives through the University of Delaware’s Biden Institute and engage in foreign policy work at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, D.C. These programs were established in 2016 after his term as vice president. Additionally, the Beau Biden Foundation, dedicated to supporting vulnerable children in memory of his late son, remains a significant passion for both the president and First Lady Jill Biden.
In a candid moment on “The View,” the 81-year-old president emphasized that he is more focused on the work itself than on his legacy. “I’m leaving, but I’m not going away. There are so many other things I want to do in terms of the Biden Institute on foreign policy and the Biden Institute in Delaware on domestic policy to keep the momentum going,” Mr. Biden stated confidently.
The Penn Biden Center recently made headlines when classified documents from Mr. Biden’s time as vice president were discovered, prompting an investigation by special counsel Robert Hur. However, the investigation concluded in February without any charges being filed.
Throughout his presidential term, Mr. Biden faced major foreign policy challenges, including Russia’s involvement in Ukraine and the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Despite efforts to broker a lasting peace agreement in the Middle East, tensions persist, with Israel considering potential ground operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon. The U.S. is advocating for diplomatic solutions to prevent an escalation of the conflict.
Mr. Biden has been vocal about his disagreements with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the situation in Gaza, reiterating his support for a two-state solution as the path to resolving the conflict. His stance aligns with his commitment to diplomacy and peaceful negotiations in addressing international disputes.
Since announcing his decision not to seek a second presidential term, Mr. Biden has remained relatively quiet about his future plans. Reflecting on his choice during the July announcement, he expressed contentment with his decision and described himself as a “transition president” who paved the way for Vice President Kamala Harris to become the Democratic nominee.
As President Biden prepares for his post-presidential endeavors, his unwavering dedication to public service and commitment to advancing critical policy issues continue to shape his legacy beyond the walls of the White House. With a renewed focus on both domestic and foreign affairs, he remains a steadfast advocate for meaningful change and progress.
