Biden’s border chief faces questions after Jordanian nationals try to breach Quantico.

The Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is facing criticism after it was revealed that two foreign nationals from Jordan attempted to breach the Quantico Marine Corps Base in Virginia by posing as delivery drivers.

Senator Lindsey Graham has raised questions about how the individuals entered the United States and whether they were in the country illegally or are on any terrorist watchlist. He has asked Secretary Mayorkas for details on the current status of the two individuals.

The two foreign nationals tried to gain access to Quantico earlier this month, arriving in a box truck and pretending to be delivery drivers. After being stopped and taken to a holding area, they tried to move closer to the Marine base but were intercepted by officers before they could get any further.

Following the incident, the individuals were handed over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for custody.

Senator Graham has urged Secretary Mayorkas for a swift response, requesting information about the background and intentions of the Jordanian nationals involved in the incident. He emphasized the need to address the ongoing threat to national security posed by such breaches.

Republican lawmakers have been vocal about the security risks at the U.S. southern border, highlighting the influx of individuals from various countries entering the country illegally. Concerns have been raised about the potential for a terrorist attack due to unchecked illegal migration into the U.S.

The issue of border security is expected to be a key concern for voters in the upcoming 2024 election.

Earlier this year, Mayorkas made history as only the second cabinet official to be impeached by the House of Representatives. However, the Democratic-controlled Senate blocked the impeachment trial from proceeding, allowing the DHS secretary to evade further scrutiny.
