Buckingham Palace Military Band Performs Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’

The royal family couldn’t contain their excitement as they commented, “Can’t stop, won’t stop groovin’,” on a performance video shared on Instagram ahead of Taylor Swift’s concert. The video featured the band members in their official uniforms, standing on the grounds of Buckingham Palace, playing the song on various wind instruments under the guidance of a conductor. The performance was aptly named “Changing of the Guard (Taylor’s Version).” It was a delightful fusion of traditional military grandeur with Swift’s modern pop music.

The British Army also joined in on the fun, noting in the comments section, “Coincidentally, the motto of The Rifles is ‘Swift and Bold.'” It was a clever nod to both Swift’s name and the band’s energetic performance.

Swift’s highly anticipated Eras Tour had three shows lined up at Wembley Stadium from June 21-23, with Paramore as the special guest for all three shows. The kickoff concert featured an opening set by METTE, followed by Griff at the second show, and Benson Boone at the third.

Prior to her London shows, Swift had just wrapped up a spectacular performance at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, marking her first time performing in Wales. The pop superstar took to Instagram to express her excitement, sharing photos of the massive crowd and captioning, “That was truly out of control in the best way – looking out into that massive, bouncing, dancing sea of people… I’ll never forget it. I’m absolutely living for these UK crowds.”

Having started her global Eras Tour in March 2023, Swift recently revealed to her fans that the long-running trek would be coming to an end. During her performance in Liverpool, she made a heartfelt announcement to the crowd at Anfield Stadium, saying, “The celebration of the 100th show means this is the very first time I’ve ever acknowledged to myself and admitted that this tour is going to end in December. Like, that’s it.”
