Camila Cabello shares Taylor Swift’s top songwriting tip: Watch now

Camila Cabello is gearing up for the release of her highly anticipated album C,XOXO, which is set to include new tracks penned by the talented singer herself. But in a recent interview, Cabello shared a pivotal moment in her songwriting journey that involved none other than Taylor Swift.

During a conversation with 11-year-old influencer Taylen Biggs, Cabello reminisced about meeting Taylor Swift for the first time a decade ago at the VMAs. She was just 16 or 17 years old at the time and had recently started dabbling in writing lyrics.

Recalling the encounter, Cabello shared, “I see her and Lorde sitting together. I’m like, ‘Oh my god, that’s Taylor Swift. I have to go up to both of them and tell them I love them.’ They were both so sweet.”

Struggling with creative blocks and self-doubt, Cabello turned to Swift for advice on songwriting. She asked Swift, “What would you say if you’re having a lot of self-doubt and you feel a little stuck?”

Swift’s response had a profound impact on Cabello. She revealed that Swift advised her to “just keep writing through it. You just gotta keep going, keep writing through it.” These words of wisdom changed Cabello’s perspective on her craft forever.

Encouraging others facing similar challenges, Cabello shared, “When you feel those voices of self-doubt, just keep going. You will find yourself on the other side of it.”

Since that encounter, Cabello has gone on to release three solo albums, with her fourth album set to debut soon. The upcoming project will feature 14 tracks, including the lead single “I Luv It” featuring Playboi Carti, as well as appearances from Drake.

Expressing her admiration for Taylor Swift, Cabello shared, “I’ve been a huge fan of Taylor Swift since I was like 13 years old. I know literally all of her songs. She was one of the people that really inspired me to start songwriting.”
