Charli XCX asks fans to stop saying ‘Taylor Swift Is Dead’ at shows

The music world is always filled with drama and controversy, but Charli XCX is reminding fans to keep it civil, especially when it comes to Taylor Swift. After her successful Partygirl DJ set at Club Zig in Sao Paolo, Brazil, fans were caught chanting “Taylor is dead,” prompting Charli to speak out against such behavior. In an Instagram Story, she made it clear that this toxic behavior is not welcome in her community and that she will not tolerate it.

The chants following the release of Taylor Swift’s U.K.-only versions of her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, with exclusive tracks. Fans speculated that Swift’s move was to block Charli’s latest set, Brat, from reaching No. 1. However, Taylor Nation clarified that the new versions were to celebrate Swift’s Eras Tour arriving in the U.K. Despite the speculation, Charli is focused on her own music and her recent engagement to George Daniel, the drummer for The 1975.

Charli is currently on tour to promote her new album, with upcoming shows in North America and the U.K. She is set to perform at various venues, including Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena, New York City’s Madison Square Garden, and Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena. The tour will culminate with four shows in the U.K. in late November through early December.
