Cruz promises to push for tougher immigration laws at GOP convention after child’s murder.

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is using his platform at the Republican National Convention to advocate for stronger border control and fewer migrant releases in response to the tragic death of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray in Texas last month. The incident highlighted a series of deaths allegedly caused by illegal immigrants in the state. Two individuals, Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, 26, are facing capital murder charges for the death of Nungaray in Houston. They are accused of luring her under a bridge, tying her up, killing her, and then dumping her body into a river.

Both Martinez and Pena have been confirmed to be in the country illegally. Martinez was detained by Border Patrol in March, while Pena was apprehended in May. Despite their immigration status, both were released on a recognizance order pending their immigration court hearings. Senator Cruz pointed out that if the law had been followed, and they were promptly deported, Jocelyn Nungaray would still be alive. Cru stated, “Jocelyn was a beautiful 12-year-old girl, she loved animals, she dreamed of being an actress.”

This tragic incident has brought attention to the issue of illegal immigrants being released into the country and the potential dangers they pose. Senator Cruz emphasized that this is not an isolated case, and similar incidents occur frequently. To address this concern, Cruz and Representative Troy Nehls of Texas have introduced the Justice for Jocelyn Act. This legislation mandates that every Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention bed must be occupied before any illegal immigrants can be released into the interior of the country. Even if all beds are filled, DHS must explore all alternatives before resorting to releasing migrants into the interior.

Alexis, Jocelyn Nungaray’s mother, has shown support for the Justice for Jocelyn Act, stating, “In the wake of so much grief, Jocelyn gives me the strength to be her voice and demand justice. Sen. Ted Cruz’s Justice for Jocelyn Act would have prevented Jocelyn’s death.” She urges everyone to back the legislation for the safety of children across the nation.

Senator Cruz plans to focus on the impact of the border crisis and what he considers open border policies on American communities in his speech at the Republican National Convention. He stresses the urgency of halting this crisis, highlighting the suffering and loss experienced by real people due to these policies. Cruz believes that re-electing President Donald Trump is the key to putting a stop to these issues.

In addition to border control issues, Senator Cruz also addressed the recent attempted assassination of former President Trump, calling for an emergency hearing and the resignation of top officials involved. He condemned the violence and attributed it to the divisive rhetoric and calls to action from the left. Cruz praised President Trump’s response to the incident and emphasized the need to address this toxic political climate.

Senator Ted Cruz’s advocacy for stronger border control and his efforts to prevent further tragedies like the death of Jocelyn Nungaray underscore the importance of addressing immigration issues in the United States. His speech at the Republican National Convention serves as a platform to raise these critical concerns and urge action to protect American communities.
