David Muir and Linsey Davis will host the first debate between Harris and Trump. Learn more about the ABC News reporters.

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are set to meet for the first time in Philadelphia for a highly-anticipated presidential debate hosted by ABC News. This 90-minute primetime debate, which will be co-moderated by ABC World News Tonight anchor David Muir and ABC News Live Prime anchor Linsey Davis, is the only scheduled debate between the 2024 Democratic and Republican presidential nominees.

David Muir, 50, has been a prominent figure at ABC since 2003 and took over as anchor of “World News Tonight” in 2014. With his vast experience in moderating presidential debates for the network, Muir is well-equipped to handle the upcoming clash of political titans.

Linsey Davis, 46, has also been a part of the ABC family since 2007 and has co-moderated Democratic presidential primary debates in the past. While she may be lesser known than Muir, her work on “ABC News Live Prime” and “World News Tonight” on Sundays showcases her talent for delivering news to the public.

As the candidates prepare for their face-off in Philadelphia, ABC News’ political director Rick Klein emphasized the moderators’ role in facilitating a meaningful discussion between Harris and Trump. While the issue of live fact-checking remains a topic of discussion following the previous debate in June, Klein maintained that the focus should be on keeping the conversation productive and engaging for viewers.

With Harris and Trump ready to share their visions for America’s future, all eyes will be on Philadelphia as the nation tunes in to witness this historic debate between two political heavyweights. Stay tuned for what is sure to be a riveting and thought-provoking evening.
