Democratic opponent criticizes Bowman for using profanity and creating conflict at rally, putting party unity at risk.

George Latimer, a Democratic congressional candidate challenging Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., criticized the “Squad” member’s recent profanity-laced campaign rally in the Bronx, arguing that it jeopardizes unity within the party and the country’s greater need for cohesion.

Latimer diplomatically described Bowman’s remarks at the campaign rally that was also attended by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., as “must-see TV.” Latimer emphasized the importance of maintaining composure and avoiding confrontation, even in the face of criticism.

“I think there’s been a lot of unfair and inaccurate criticism directed at me by my opponent, but I believe it is essential to remain composed and refrain from using profanity in public,” Latimer stated at an event with faith leaders in Mount Vernon, New York.

Latimer continued to express his commitment to finding common ground and working collaboratively, despite any existing disagreements in policy matters. He emphasized the need for unity within the Democratic Party and stressed the importance of civility in political discourse.

“I believe that through my personality and past actions, we can find common ground and work together to achieve positive outcomes. If I do not succeed in this race, my campaign will end, and my supporters will be encouraged to avoid further division,” Latimer affirmed.

During the campaign rally in the Bronx, Bowman used expletives and openly criticized the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), a pro-Israel advocacy group supporting Latimer. Bowman’s actions were deemed inappropriate by Latimer, who condemned the use of profanity in a public setting.

As the primary election approached, Latimer expressed his willingness to engage in self-reflection and encouraged Bowman to do the same if defeated, emphasizing the importance of party and national unity.

Latimer highlighted the need for Congress to move beyond performative politics and focus on addressing substantive issues. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and working towards practical solutions to benefit the communities he aims to serve.

In contrast to his opponent, Latimer described himself as a person who avoids bombastic statements and focuses on meaningful engagement. He stressed the urgency of addressing the concerns of constituents and moving away from symbolic gestures towards tangible progress.

Latimer expressed optimism about the potential impact of individual congressmen in driving positive change, emphasizing the importance of focusing on substantive issues and practical solutions to address current challenges.
