Democrats in the ‘Squad’ support Kamala Harris to replace Biden.

The political landscape took a dramatic turn as the far-left “Squad” members in the House rallied behind Vice President Kamala Harris following President Biden’s shocking decision to withdraw from the 2024 White House race.

Known for their progressive views and clashes with establishment Democrats, figures like Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Jamaal Bowman expressed their support for Harris as the Democratic nominee to take on Donald Trump in the upcoming election.

Rep. Ilhan Omar, from Minnesota, gracefully acknowledged Biden’s decision, stating, “Thrilled to support [Harris] as our Democratic nominee and remain committed to working alongside her to defeat Donald Trump in November.”

Similarly, Rep. Jamaal Bowman from New York, who recently faced a loss in his reelection bid, praised Harris as the most qualified candidate to lead the country forward in light of Biden’s exit.

Adding to the chorus of endorsements, Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri emphasized the importance of trusting Black women in leadership roles, highlighting Harris’s readiness to steer the nation in the right direction.

On the other hand, notable “Squad” members like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Rashida Tlaib maintained a conspicuous silence on the matter, with Tlaib notably known for her criticism of the Biden administration’s handling of various issues.

Ocasio-Cortez, however, broke her silence through an Instagram live feed, attributing pressure on Biden to step down to high-dollar Democratic donors who supposedly did not wish to see Harris take the reins either.

The President’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 race followed mounting pressure stemming from concerns about his performance in a recent debate against Trump. Questions about his mental and physical fitness to run a campaign and serve another term loomed large, prompting Biden to bow out gracefully to focus on his remaining duties as President.

The developments have set the stage for a new chapter in the Democratic Party’s quest for leadership, with Vice President Kamala Harris poised to step into the spotlight as the party’s nominee to face off against Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
