Donald Trump’s son reacts to Biden’s claim of inheriting 9% inflation.

Former President Trump’s son, Eric Trump, has taken to social media to criticize President Biden for his remarks downplaying concerns about the economy and falsely claiming he inherited 9% inflation when he took office.

In a rare interview with CNN’s Erin Burnett, Biden was questioned about low consumer confidence in the economy, including rising housing costs, declining real income adjusted for inflation, and lackluster economic growth since he assumed office.

Biden erroneously stated, “No president has had the run we’ve had in terms of creating jobs and bringing down inflation. It was 9% when I came to office — 9%,” even though inflation was only at 1.4% when he took office and grew to 9.1% by June 2022, 17 months later.

A White House official clarified that Biden was trying to emphasize that the factors causing inflation were already in place when he became president.

During the interview, Biden dismissed polls revealing voter disapproval of his economic management and claimed that these polls were inaccurate. He offered an optimistic view of the economy that contradicts public sentiment.

When asked about inflation and increased grocery costs under his administration, Biden asserted, “We’ve already turned it around,” and boasted about the strength of the U.S. economy, declaring it the best in the world.

Contrary to Biden’s assertions, a Gallup poll on the housing market indicates that Americans expect home prices to rise further and view the current housing market negatively, with 68% predicting higher prices and 76% considering it a bad time to buy a house.

When Burnett confronted him with CNN polling data, Biden dismissed the network, claiming that polling data have been consistently inaccurate. He did acknowledge that inflation is a concern for many Americans but continued to highlight his administration’s economic achievements.

Eric Trump’s criticism of Biden was echoed by former Obama adviser and CNN political analyst David Axelrod, who described Biden’s stance on the economy as a “terrible mistake” that could impact the upcoming election.

Axelrod recognized the quick economic recovery following the pandemic but highlighted that people judge the economy based on the cost of living, a factor Biden should address with empathy. Axelrod warned that Biden’s pride might hinder his chances of winning reelection.
