Doug Emhoff admits to cheating on his first wife.

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, made a shocking revelation on Saturday about his past. He admitted to having an extramarital affair during his first marriage after a report by the Daily Mail surfaced claiming that he got his children’s nanny pregnant.

“During my first marriage, Kerstin and I went through some tough times due to my actions,” Emhoff stated in a message to CNN referring to his first wife, Kerstin Emhoff. “I took responsibility, and in the years that followed, we worked through the challenges as a family and emerged stronger on the other side.”

Emhoff, 59 years old now, was previously married to Kerstin Emhoff from 1992 to 2009. They have two adult children together – Cole, 29, and Ella, 25, who they co-parent with Emhoff’s current wife, Kamala Harris.

The relationship between Emhoff and his first wife came to an end in 2009 when he was an entertainment lawyer and his wife was a movie producer. According to sources cited by the Daily Mail, the nanny who got pregnant had to leave her job as a teacher at an elite private elementary school in Culver City, California, where she had also taught the Emhoff children.

Harris and Emhoff crossed paths in 2013 while she was serving as California’s attorney general. They tied the knot in 2014. Reports indicate that Harris was aware of the affair before they got married, and it was also known to the Biden 2020 campaign during the vetting process for Harris as Biden’s vice presidential choice.

“Doug and I made the decision to end our marriage for various reasons many years ago,” Kerstin Emhoff revealed in a statement to CNN. “He has been a wonderful father to our children, remains a great friend to me, and I am truly proud of the loving and supportive blended family that Doug, Kamala, and I have created.”

Throughout the campaign trail, Emhoff has been a visible presence alongside his wife, who is the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. The couple married in 2014, years after the affair and his previous marriage came to an end.
