Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson claim they helped Taylor and Travis work together.
Two of America’s most-accomplished wing women — sports commentators Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson — visited The Tonight Show to discuss their role in setting up the golden couple Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce many months ago.
During their conversation with host Jimmy Fallon about persuading the pop star to give the Kansas City Chiefs tight end a chance on their joint podcast Calm Down, Thompson humorously claimed responsibility for the matchmaking, saying, “Yes, Jimmy, we are responsible.”
Adding to the story, Andrews chimed in, “We’re friends with him, and how could you not be? The guy’s a catch. He had expressed on his podcast his desire to meet Swift after attending her show but missed the opportunity. We decided to talk about it on our podcast, encouraging Taylor to give him a chance. After all, he’s not bad-looking by any means.”
In a lighthearted manner, Thompson concluded, “We’ll take the credit for bringing them together. I adore both of them, and it brings me immense joy to see them happy.”
The interview took place several months after Andrews publicly urged Swift to consider dating Kelce on their show. Andrews passionately said, “Taylor, besides rocking the world, please give our friend Travis a chance, he is amazing!” Kelce had previously shared his failed attempt to meet the singer at her Kansas City Eras Tour stops on his podcast.
Two months later, Swift attended her first-ever Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium, indicating that she and the athlete had made their relationship official. Kelce expressed his gratitude to Andrews and Thompson for their role in the matchmaking, commenting on one of their Instagram posts, “You two are something else!! I owe you big time!”
The 14-time Grammy winner became a regular at Chiefs games, supporting the team throughout the 2023-24 season, which culminated in their victory against the San Francisco 49ers at the Super Bowl. On the day of the grand game, Swift made a stylish entrance at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, wearing a red jacket from Andrews’ WEAR apparel line, completing the full-circle moment.
Recalling the memorable Super Bowl Sunday, Andrews described Swift’s stunning appearance, saying, “She looked amazing in that red jacket, I was blown away.”
