FBI: Bullet hit Trump’s ear in attempted assassination.

Former President Donald Trump was injured by a bullet during an assassination attempt at his rally in Pennsylvania earlier this month, the FBI confirmed on Friday. FBI director Christopher Wray testified earlier this week that there was some uncertainty about what had grazed Trump’s right ear during the incident.

The FBI’s Office of Public Affairs stated, “What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle.”

Republican Rep. Ronny Jackson of Texas, who previously served as a physician to Trump, confirmed that Trump was indeed hit by a bullet in his right ear. Jackson shared a memorandum on social media, stating that he has been closely monitoring Trump’s health since the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.

Jackson reported that the would-be assassin fired multiple rounds from close range using a high-powered rifle, with one bullet striking Trump in his right ear. Trump was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for a “gunshot wound to the right ear,” and Jackson agrees with the initial assessment and treatment provided by the hospital staff.

Trump is reportedly recovering rapidly from the wound and is doing extremely well. Jackson’s memo appears to have been prompted by comments made by FBI Director Chris Wray during an oversight hearing, where he mentioned that there was some ambiguity about whether Trump’s ear was grazed by shrapnel or a bullet.

Trump criticized Wray’s remarks, accusing him of causing a lack of confidence in the FBI among the American people. He also called for Wray’s resignation, alleging that he lied to Congress about President Biden’s health.

The FBI stated that Wray had provided extensive testimony to Congress regarding the investigation into the shooting incident at the rally, which resulted in one fatality and injuries to Trump and two other individuals.

A shooting reconstruction team is currently examining evidence from the scene of the attack, including bullet fragments. Jackson urged Congress to correct the hearing record to reflect the facts confirmed by both the hospital and himself.

Jackson, who served in the White House Medical Unit during multiple presidential administrations, was demoted by the Navy in 2022 following an investigation that revealed inappropriate conduct during his time with the White House Medical Unit.

Released in March 2021, the Pentagon’s probe found that Jackson had engaged in disparaging, belittling, and bullying behavior towards subordinates and engaged in reckless drinking during presidential trips. Jackson had retired from the Navy in 2019 and was appointed by Trump as chief medical adviser and assistant to the president in 2019.

Trump’s nomination of Jackson to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2018 was derailed due to allegations of misconduct, including claims of drinking on the job and overprescribing medications.

The FBI continues to investigate the assassination attempt on former President Trump to uncover all relevant details surrounding the incident.
