Flavor Flav criticizes Harrison Butker for controversial commencement speech
Flavor Flav believes that Harrison Butker needs to take a step back. The Kansas City Chiefs kicker recently gave a controversial commencement speech at Benedictine University, a liberal arts college in Kansas. During his speech, Butker suggested that women should focus on being homemakers rather than pursuing careers. In response, the rapper took to Twitter to offer some advice of his own.
“Sounds like some players ‘need to stay in their lanes’ and shouldn’t be giving commencement speeches,” Flav tweeted.
The next day, Flav returned to the platform to express his gratitude for the women in his life and his support for their choices. He highlighted the importance of having women on his team and being surrounded by strong women.
Flav’s tweets come in the wake of Butker’s speech, which has garnered widespread attention online. Butker made headlines for quoting Taylor Swift lyrics in his speech, though he referred to the pop star only as “my teammate’s girlfriend.” He also criticized various issues, including abortion, birth control, President Joe Biden, Pride month, and what he described as the cultural emasculation of men.
In particular, Butker addressed the female graduates directly, stating, “I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you.” He encouraged the graduates to prioritize marriage and family over career aspirations.
In contrast, Taylor Swift has been a vocal advocate for the LGBTQ community and feminist causes. Flavor Flav, a self-proclaimed fan of the singer, attended her Eras Tour show in Detroit and the premiere of the Eras Tour film in Los Angeles last year.
Flavor Flav’s tweets underscore his support for women and his belief in the importance of empowering them to make their own choices. His words serve as a reminder of the need for respect and equality in all aspects of life.
