GOP governor criticizes Biden after illegal immigrants try to enter military base

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin is pushing back against the Biden administration, demanding more information regarding the attempted breach of a U.S. Marine Corps base in Quantico by two illegal immigrants. The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of Virginians as migrants continue to flow through the southern border.

In a letter dated May 22, Youngkin expressed his deep concerns about the recent incident at Quantico, where two Jordanian nationals tried to gain access to the military base by posing as Amazon delivery drivers. Fortunately, they were stopped by officers and taken to a holding area after their illegal status was discovered.

The lack of transparency from the federal government regarding this incident has left Youngkin and Virginia officials without crucial information. The governor emphasized the urgency of the situation, highlighting the failure of the Biden administration to secure the southern border and notify state governments about illegal migrant relocations.

According to Department of Homeland Security officials, one of the Jordanians entered the U.S. via Mexico and was released with a notice to appear, while the other had overstayed their student visa since 2023. The federal government’s delayed involvement in the case at Quantico has only amplified Youngkin’s concerns about national security.

Youngkin’s letter to President Biden pointed out that this was not an isolated incident, citing several similar breaches in recent months across various military facilities. From a Chinese national attempting entry into a Marine Corps base to a speeding driver crashing into the gates of Fort Story in Virginia Beach, the trend of unauthorized access to secure areas is alarming.

The Governor called for a full briefing from the administration to shed light on the situation and ensure the safety of Virginians. He demanded greater collaboration and information sharing between federal and state partners to prevent such security breaches in the future.

The recent breach at Quantico serves as a stark reminder of the challenges posed by unchecked migration and the pressing need for stronger border security measures. Youngkin’s firm stance against the lack of communication and coordination from the federal government reflects his commitment to safeguarding Virginia’s residents.

As the debate over immigration policies and border security continues to unfold, Governor Youngkin’s proactive approach underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in addressing national security threats. His efforts to hold the Biden administration accountable for ensuring the safety of all Americans are commendable.

With incidents like the one at Quantico serving as a wake-up call, it is imperative for federal and state authorities to work together effectively in addressing security challenges and protecting the country from potential threats.
