GOP lawmakers want Blinken to explain how he plans to prevent $404M aid from going to Hamas.

House Republicans are demanding accountability from the Biden administration regarding the recent $404 million Gaza aid package. Led by Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Texas, the lawmakers are seeking assurance that the funds will not fall into the hands of Hamas, a designated terrorist organization by the State Department.

Concerns have been raised about the possibility of Hamas diverting humanitarian aid intended for civilians in Gaza to support their terrorist activities. The lawmakers stressed the importance of ensuring that aid does not inadvertently fund terrorism and prolong the conflict in the region.

The new aid package was unveiled by Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a conference on Gaza humanitarian assistance in Jordan. Blinken announced an additional $404 million in aid, bringing the total amount of humanitarian assistance sent by the U.S. to Gaza to over $674 million since the conflict with Israel began.

The lawmakers are calling on Blinken to provide a detailed strategy on how the administration plans to safeguard the funds and prevent them from reaching Hamas. They have given a deadline of 30 days for the administration to present their plan before the funding is halted.

It is crucial for the American people and the international community to have confidence that their humanitarian aid is reaching those in need and not fueling conflict and terrorism. The lawmakers are committed to holding the Biden administration accountable and ensuring that the funds are used for their intended purpose.
