GOP Senate candidate says opponent was connected to Biden debate: Bob Casey was aware

Amidst growing concerns about President Biden’s cognitive abilities, Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate Dave McCormick is seizing the opportunity to challenge incumbent Sen. Bob Casey. Leveraging Biden’s lackluster debate performance, McCormick’s campaign released an ad featuring Casey affirming Biden’s readiness for the job mere months ago in March.

The ad emphasizes the close friendship between Biden and Casey, showcasing footage of Biden referring to the Pennsylvania senator as “one of my best buddies.” The message is clear: Casey knew about Biden’s condition and chose not to disclose it.

Following a widely criticized debate between former President Trump and Biden, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) released an ad targeting Senate Democrats who have vocally supported Biden despite concerns about his mental acuity. The NRSC’s spokesman, Philip Letsou, explicitly blames Senate Democrats for enabling Biden’s unfit presidency.

Despite Democrats’ adamant denials of any issues with Biden’s mental and physical health, the public saw a different picture during the debate. Reports of Democratic panic behind closed doors as a result of Biden’s performance surfaced immediately after the event. Even traditionally supportive media outlets like CNN and MSNBC acknowledged Biden’s lackluster showing and the ensuing panic within Democratic circles.

Lawmakers like Casey, along with Sens. Sherrod Brown, Jon Tester, Jacky Rosen, and Tammy Baldwin, were already walking a tightrope between party loyalty and appealing to a broad voter base. Now, they are under increased scrutiny for their unwavering support of Biden’s mental acuity despite clear evidence to the contrary.

As the 2024 election cycle ramps up, the spotlight is on Democratic incumbents and candidates as they navigate the fallout from Biden’s debate performance and the subsequent questions surrounding his fitness for office.
