Gov. Noem gets upset during interview about story of killing dog in book

South Dakota Governor, Kristi Noem, found herself in the midst of a media firestorm after the release of her new book, “No Going Back.” During a recent interview with FOX Business’ Stuart Varney, Governor Noem faced tough questions about a controversial section of her book where she described shooting her ranch dog. The story, which detailed an incident where the dog had attacked a neighbor’s chickens, quickly sparked outrage among lawmakers and the public.

When pressed by Varney about her political future and potential vice presidential aspirations, Noem responded defensively, claiming that the interviewer did not have the facts straight. She defended her decision to include the story in her book by stating, “This was a vicious, dangerous dog. That was a working dog. And I had to make a choice between the safety of my children and an animal that was killing livestock and attacking people.”

As the interview continued, Governor Noem reiterated her support for her book, despite facing backlash from critics. She insisted that the attacks against her were fueled by fear and stated, “I have so much support and all I’ve done is won.”

Varney questioned Noem about the age of the dog at the time of the incident, to which she confirmed it was 14 months old when it was put down. The interview took a contentious turn as the two clashed over the topic, with Noem eventually declaring the interview “ridiculous” and demanding it to be stopped.

Amidst the controversy surrounding her book, there have been speculations about Governor Noem’s potential role as a vice presidential candidate for former President Donald Trump’s 2024 ticket. Trump has reportedly included Noem in his short list of candidates for the position, further fueling discussions about her political future.

However, the dog story has led to bipartisan criticism, with Senator Mike Rounds expressing doubts about how it may impact Governor Noem’s standing with voters. Rounds stated, “I don’t see how it helps” in reference to the controversy surrounding the dog shooting incident.

Despite the backlash and scrutiny, Governor Noem remains steadfast in her defense of her actions and her book. As the debate surrounding her controversial new release continues, it remains to be seen how this incident will impact her political career and aspirations for the future.
