Gov Walz said ICE raids are like terrorism in America

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has been a vocal advocate for immigrant rights and sanctuary cities. In 2017, then-Rep. Walz described an ICE raid in Worthington, Minnesota, as “terrorism” in America. The raid was part of Operation Wagon Train, where illegal immigrants and others used stolen identities to get jobs at a meat packing plant. This incident deeply affected Walz, who vowed to protect such individuals.

Walz shared a story about an undocumented immigrant in his district who was victimized after reporting a crime. Despite having no criminal record and contributing positively to the community for 22 years, the man was arrested and deported. Walz highlighted the importance of sanctuary cities in ensuring that all residents feel safe reporting crimes without fear of immigration consequences.

At a town hall event, Walz stood by the notion that sanctuary cities play a crucial role in protecting communities and upholding the values of inclusivity and justice. He emphasized the need for comprehensive immigration reform to address the challenges faced by immigrants living in the United States.

His stance on immigration has been supported by Democratic colleagues like Rep. Angie Craig, who echoed the call for reform and emphasized the importance of standing together as a diverse and welcoming nation. Craig expressed her commitment to advocating for immigrant rights and fostering a sense of unity among different communities.

Both Walz and Craig have been strong proponents of creating a more inclusive society where diversity is celebrated and everyone is welcome. They believe that by embracing immigrants and promoting understanding among all residents, America can truly live up to its ideals of equality and justice for all.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, leaders like Governor Tim Walz and Rep. Angie Craig serve as beacons of hope for a more compassionate and inclusive future. Their dedication to immigrant rights and sanctuary cities reflects a commitment to building a more just and equitable society for all who call America home.
