Harris Raises Twice as Much Money as Trump in 2024

Vice President Kamala Harris has shattered records with her astounding fundraising numbers in July, raking in an impressive $310 million for her campaign. This staggering amount was announced by her team on Friday morning, proudly claiming it as “the biggest haul of the 2024 cycle.”

Surpassing the figures brought in by former President Donald Trump’s campaign, Harris’s fundraising efforts saw a massive surge following President Biden’s endorsement of her as his successor at the helm of the Democratic Party’s ticket.

The immediate backing from President Biden triggered a flurry of endorsements for Harris from Democratic governors, senators, House members, and other party leaders. In just 36 hours, Harris secured her party’s nomination by gaining the support of a majority of the nearly 4,000 delegates at the Democratic National Convention this month.

The Harris campaign highlighted that over $200 million was garnered in the first week after she replaced Biden, hailed as the “single greatest week in fundraising history.” They also boasted that July marked the “best grassroots fundraising month in presidential history.”

Two-thirds of the funds raised came from first-time donors, showing considerable grassroots support for Harris. The campaign concluded July with a substantial war chest of $377 million at their disposal.

These exceptional fundraising figures mark a significant increase from the $127 million raised by the Biden-Harris ticket in June. Notably, a substantial $40 million was raised in the aftermath of Biden’s lackluster debate performance against Trump on June 27th.

While initial support poured in for Biden post-debate, questions regarding his fitness for another term in office started to gain traction within the Democratic Party. As a result, the momentum of donations began to dwindle by early July.

On the other side, Trump’s campaign reported a $327 million cash reserve by the end of July, emphasizing their momentum and readiness for the final stretch leading up to the November 5th election.

This fundraising showdown between Harris and Trump is crucial, as it not only demonstrates the candidates’ popularity but also provides the financial resources needed for campaign operations, including staffing, outreach efforts, advertising, and candidate travel.

The dynamic fundraising landscape reflects the intense competition between Harris and Trump as they vie for the presidency in the upcoming election. With millions pouring into their war chests, both candidates are gearing up for a fierce battle on the road to victory.
