Harris says Trump is avoiding Sept. 10 debate

2024 Presidential Race: Harris Ready to Debate Trump

As the 2024 Presidential race heats up, Vice President Kamala Harris is calling out former President Donald Trump for backtracking on their agreed-upon debate date of September 10. Harris, fresh from a speech before educators in Houston, expressed her readiness to face off against Trump in a televised debate.

During her press statement in Washington, Harris stated, “I’m ready to debate Donald Trump. I have agreed to the previously agreed upon Sept. 10 debate. He agreed to that previously. Now it appears he’s backpedaling. But I’m ready. And I think the voters deserve to see the split-screen that exists in this race on a debate stage. And so I’m ready. Let’s go.”

Back in May, both Trump and President Biden, who has now exited the race, had agreed to participate in two presidential debates. The first was scheduled for June 27 and hosted by CNN, with the second slated for September 10 and to be hosted by ABC News.

Following Mr. Biden’s lackluster performance in the first debate last month, calls for him to withdraw from the race intensified, leading to his announcement that he would not seek a second term. After his departure, Harris stepped up as a candidate and has gathered the support of a majority of delegates necessary to clinch the Democratic nomination.

While Trump expressed willingness to debate Harris and even suggested multiple debates, he insisted that the event should be hosted by Fox News instead of ABC News. Trump took to his social media platform to criticize ABC as “fake news” and a “joke.”

As the political landscape continues to shift, the stage is set for a potentially intense and highly anticipated debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. Stay tuned for updates on this intriguing development in the 2024 presidential race.
