Hawley asks Garland to investigate dark money funding anti-Israel activists on college campuses.

Senator Josh Hawley is making waves by demanding answers from Attorney General Merrick Garland regarding the funding sources behind anti-Israel demonstrations causing chaos on campuses nationwide.

In a letter addressed to Garland, Hawley highlighted the alarming situation on university campuses where antisemitic radicals have taken over buildings and outdoor spaces, vandalized property, and terrorized Jewish students. He urged Garland to launch an investigation to uncover the individuals and groups responsible for fueling these disruptive activities.

The foundation supporting these demonstrations has been accused of labeling the Israeli government’s actions as “apartheid,” “ethnic cleansing,” “collective punishment,” and “war crimes” by NGO Monitor. However, the financial backing behind this foundation remains largely shrouded in mystery.

Josh Hawley emphasized the organized nature of these protests, denouncing them as not merely spontaneous student unrest, but rather a well-funded and coordinated effort by anti-Israel advocates. He raised concerns regarding the potential illegality of these activities and their impact on the safety of Jewish students and faculty.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, organizations promoting world peace that sponsor protest demonstrations encouraging civil disobedience may not qualify for tax-exempt status. Therefore, Hawley pointed out the potential deceitful actions of dark-money groups and foundations that support illegal activities while enjoying tax-exempt benefits.

One prominent group involved in these activities, Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), has received substantial financial backing, with at least $650,000 coming from Soros-linked groups since 2016. Additionally, JVP has been supported by the Rockefeller Fund, fueled by millions of dollars from a dark money funding network.

Senator Hawley’s efforts to hold those funding anti-Israel protests accountable for their actions reflect a broader concern regarding the safety and security of Jewish students and faculty on college campuses. By shedding light on the financial sources behind these disruptive activities, he aims to address the root cause of the chaos and unrest prevailing in educational institutions across the country.

As the debate around the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to evoke strong emotions and political activism, it is imperative to ensure that civil discourse and peaceful resolutions prevail, rather than allowing inflammatory demonstrations to create a hostile environment on college campuses.
