House committee wants investigation into where COVID-19 came from.

The Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic is intensifying its call for a criminal investigation into the origins of the COVID-19 virus. This demand comes on the heels of an interim staff report that accuses EcoHealth Alliance President Dr. Peter Daszak of financing “dangerous gain-of-function research in Wuhan, China, without adequate oversight.

The Committee on Oversight and Accountability released a statement on Wednesday citing “overwhelming primary source documents and credible firsthand testimony” gathered during the investigation. This evidence suggests that Dr. Daszak violated the terms of the NIH grant awarded to EcoHealth.

According to the committee, Dr. Daszak’s actions demonstrate a disregard for legal reporting requirements and a contempt for the American people. As a result, the Select Subcommittee is recommending the formal debarment of EcoHealth Alliance and its President, as well as a full criminal investigation.

EcoHealth Alliance, based in the United States, is a non-governmental organization dedicated to researching pandemic prevention. However, congressional lawmakers allege that taxpayer dollars were used to fund risky gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in China.

Dr. Daszak testified publicly before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, addressing the allegations and defending his organization’s work. He emphasized the collaborative nature of their research with Chinese scientists and emphasized their commitment to transparency and factual accuracy.

Despite facing misinformation and false allegations about the origins of COVID-19, Dr. Daszak and EcoHealth Alliance have worked diligently to address these challenges and refute inaccurate claims. The organization has also faced threats, break-ins, and harassment, highlighting the intense scrutiny and pressure surrounding the investigation into the virus’s origins.

This latest development underscores the ongoing debate and investigation into the origins of the COVID-19 virus, shedding light on the complexities and challenges of unraveling the mystery behind the global pandemic. As the Select Subcommittee pushes for further scrutiny and accountability, the scientific community and the public await answers and clarity regarding the source and spread of this unprecedented health crisis.
