House Democrat blames Biden’s struggles in debate on being overwhelmed.

As concerns continue to mount regarding President Biden’s ability to serve another term in office, one Democratic congressman came to his defense, suggesting that he may have been “overprepared” for a recent debate.

During the debate, Biden’s raspy voice and apparent lapses in thought raised questions about his fitness, but the president attributed his performance to being under the weather from a cold and recent travel.

“The circumstances that led to that – a combination of not feeling 100% healthy, dealing with the former president’s distractions, and perhaps even being too prepared – are all factors we will address going forward,” said Rep. Troy Carter, D-La., in a CNN interview defending Biden.

Carter emphasized that the focus should be on how Biden presented himself at events following the debate, rather than just on the debate itself.

“You will see the Joe Biden from the day after the debate and every day since – energized, coherent, well-prepared, and knowledgeable about the policies he has worked so hard to enact,” Carter added.

Despite Biden’s debated performance, Carter affirmed his support for the president’s re-election campaign.

“If you remember the very next day, Biden looked healthier, more energetic, and acknowledged his off night. No one is denying that. This president is prepared, and we are standing by him,” Carter stated.

Leading up to the debate, Biden spent a week at Camp David with a team of over a dozen aides to help him get ready for the event.

Despite concerns raised by House and Senate Democrats about Biden’s candidacy post-debate, Biden has made it clear that he has no intention of bowing out of the race.
