House Democrat thinks Biden should step down like George Washington did.

A New England Democrat has made headlines recently by suggesting that President Biden should consider stepping aside to make way for new leaders, following in the footsteps of former President George Washington. Rep. Seth Moulton, a Democrat from Massachusetts, joined the chorus of voices calling for Biden to end his re-election bid after the recent presidential debate in Atlanta.

The debate sparked concerns over Biden’s cognitive health, leading to growing calls among Democrats for the president to drop out of the race. Moulton emphasized the need for new leadership to rise up and challenge Donald Trump, drawing parallels to when President Washington voluntarily stepped down from office in 1797 after serving two terms, setting a precedent for future presidents.

Rep. Moulton is not alone in his stance, as at least two other Democratic representatives have officially called for Biden to step down as the nominee. Rep. Lloyd Doggett from Texas was the first House Democrat to urge Biden to withdraw from the race, stating, “I am hopeful that he will make the painful and difficult decision to withdraw. I respectfully call on him to do so.”

Meanwhile, Rep. Raúl Grijalva from Arizona expressed his support for Biden but also suggested that the president should consider getting out of the race to allow for new candidates to emerge. Despite the increasing pressure from within his party, President Biden declared during a 4th of July celebration that he has no plans of going anywhere.

As the debate over Biden’s candidacy continues to unfold, the Democratic Party faces a pivotal moment in deciding its path forward towards the 2024 elections. Whether Biden will heed the calls to step aside or continue to push forward in his re-election bid remains uncertain, leaving many Democrats divided on the best course of action for the party.

With the political landscape evolving rapidly and tensions running high within the Democratic Party, the coming months will undoubtedly be crucial in shaping the future of the 2024 elections and determining who will ultimately go head-to-head with former President Trump.
