House Democrats are cautious after Biden’s debate performance.

On Thursday night’s debate, Democrat lawmakers rushed to President Biden’s defense amid widespread concerns over his performance. Almost instantly, viewers noticed Biden’s physical and mental struggles as he stumbled over words, had a raspy voice, and seemed to lose his train of thought. A well-connected Democrat source reported to Fox News that “everyone is freaking out” and some have called for Biden to step aside.

Despite acknowledging that Biden had a rough night, many Democrats still believe that he should be the party’s nominee for the general election. Rep. Gregory Meeks of New York admitted that Biden had a bad night but emphasized the importance of sticking with him, as he is deemed the right person for the job at this moment.

Others, like Rep. Robert Garcia of California, suggested that Biden’s performance may have been impacted by not feeling well. Garcia pointed out that Biden’s years of public service speak for themselves, and a single debate where he may have been under the weather should not overshadow his overall capability.

Rep. Andre Carson from Indiana noted that Biden started slowly during the debate but eventually gained momentum. Carson praised Biden for staying on message, highlighting the successes of his administration in rectifying the issues left behind by the previous administration. Carson emphasized Biden’s support for law enforcement, the military, and his commitment to economic growth, citing his track record as proof of his leadership abilities.

The support for President Biden among Democrats appears to remain strong despite his shaky debate performance. While acknowledging his flaws on the debate stage, many believe in his ability to lead the country and continue his work in office.
