House Representative says secret documents show strong evidence that COVID-19 may have started in a lab in Wuhan and was hidden by Chinese government.

The Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic recently uncovered classified State Department records that strongly indicate COVID-19 may have originated from a “lab-related accident in Wuhan, China,” and that the Chinese Communist Party made efforts to conceal this leak.

These documents were reviewed by members of the Subcommittee, who believe that they provide compelling evidence suggesting a connection between the virus and the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Additionally, there are indications of a close relationship between the Institute and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, further raising suspicions about the potential source of the pandemic.

Rep. Brad Wenstrup of Ohio, who is a member of the Subcommittee, expressed concerns about the lack of transparency surrounding these records. He emphasized the need for greater disclosure and urged Secretary of State Antony Blinken to declassify this information so that the American people can have a more complete understanding of the origins of COVID-19.

It is worth noting that President Biden signed the COVID-19 Origin Act of 2023, which mandated the declassification of relevant information related to the pandemic. Despite this, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a report in June 2023 stating that there is still no definitive conclusion on whether the virus emerged from a lab leak or through natural means.

While some intelligence agencies lean towards the theory of natural contact with a wild animal as the likely cause of the pandemic, others, such as the U.S. Energy Department and the FBI, suggest that a lab leak in China is a more plausible explanation. The report highlighted that the CIA and another undisclosed agency have not reached a definitive conclusion, as both theories present challenges and conflicting information.

Importantly, the report emphasized that COVID-19 was not genetically engineered and was not developed as a biological weapon. This conclusion is shared by the entire intelligence community, indicating a consensus on the non-weaponized nature of the virus.

The ongoing debate about the origins of COVID-19 underscores the importance of continued investigation and transparency. As the world continues to grapple with the impact of the pandemic, it remains crucial to uncover the truth behind its beginnings to prevent similar crises in the future.
