Hunter Biden’s sentencing for gun case scheduled after election.

First son Hunter Biden is set to be sentenced on Nov. 13, just a week after the general election, following his guilty verdict in the criminal case centered around his 2018 handgun purchase. The sentencing will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the J. Caleb Boggs Federal Building in Wilmington, Delaware, presided over by Judge Maryellen Noreika. This significant event will occur 8 days post the 2024 presidential election.

In June, Hunter Biden was convicted of three charges, including making a false statement in the gun purchase, making a false statement related to federally licensed gun dealer information, and possessing a gun as an unlawful user of a controlled substance. The maximum prison term for these charges is 25 years, with each count carrying a steep fine of $250,000 and three years of supervised release. However, being a first-time offender could likely result in less severe penalties.

During Hunter Biden’s trial, lasting approximately six and a half days, emotional testimonies were shared by his family members, such as daughter Naomi Biden, ex-wife Kathleen Buhle, and girlfriend-turned-sister-in-law Hallie Biden. Hunter Biden expressed gratitude for the support he received and emphasized the importance of recovery through faith and one-day-at-a-time progress.

Prosecutors presented evidence alleging that Hunter Biden lied on the ATF Form 4473 in 2018, declaring falsely that he was not an unlawful user of a firearm or addicted to controlled substances. The firearm in question was purchased from StarQuest Shooters & Survival Supply in Wilmington, a key detail in the case.

Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss highlighted that the focus of the trial was Hunter Biden’s “illegal choices,” driven not only by his struggle with addiction but also by the dangerous combination of substance abuse and firearms. Weiss stressed the seriousness of lying on a government-issued form during a gun purchase and the subsequent possession of the firearm.

The upcoming sentencing on Nov. 13 will mark a crucial moment for Hunter Biden as he awaits the decision on his fate following the verdict. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
