Joe Biden Says He Dropped Out Because He Fulfilled His Obligation.

President Joe Biden recently announced his decision to withdraw his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election. In his first interview since dropping out, President Biden stated that his choice to not run again stemmed from his deep concern about ensuring that Donald Trump does not return to the White House.

During his interview on “CBS Sunday Morning,” Biden revealed that he believed staying in the race would create distractions, especially amid the discussions within the Democratic Party about his candidacy. He mentioned that several Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate expressed concerns that his candidacy might harm their chances in the upcoming elections.

Reflecting on his initial decision to run for the presidency in 2020, President Biden shared that he had always viewed himself as a transitional figure within the Democratic Party. He intended to serve a single term and then pass on the torch to the next generation of Democratic leaders.

Biden emphasized the importance of defeating Donald Trump in the upcoming election, calling him a “genuine danger to American security.” He underscored his commitment to safeguarding and preserving American democracy, stating that defeating Trump was a critical objective for him.

After announcing his withdrawal from the race in July, President Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor in the White House bid. Harris quickly gained support from Democrats, with polls showing her leading Trump in battleground states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin among likely voters.

President Biden commended Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, as a formidable team. He expressed his willingness to support them in any way possible, including campaigning in key states like Pennsylvania.

Speaking about his experience in the presidential debate, Biden noted that he had a challenging day due to illness but assured the public that he had no serious health concerns. He emphasized his desire to be remembered as a president who navigated the nation through challenging times, highlighting his administration’s accomplishments in managing the pandemic and driving economic recovery.

As President Biden steps back from the 2024 race, he remains focused on playing a supportive role in ensuring the victory of the Democratic ticket in the upcoming election. His commitment to upholding democratic values and principles continues to guide his actions and decisions for the betterment of the country.
