Kamala Harris’ campaign raises $540 million since starting.
With both political conventions now behind us, the presidential campaigns of Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are gearing up for the final stretch leading up to the upcoming election. The battleground is set, and both campaigns are working tirelessly to secure their victory.
Recently, Vice President Harris’ campaign announced an impressive $540 million in donations since her entry into the presidential race just last month. The campaign saw a surge in donations during the Democratic National Convention, with $82 million pouring in during the week of the event. This overwhelming support was described as “unprecedented grassroots donations,” showcasing the solidarity of the Democratic Party behind their new ticket.
One of the standout moments for the campaign was Vice President Harris’ acceptance speech during the convention, which led to the best fundraising hour since the campaign’s launch. Campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon emphasized the galvanizing impact of the convention, energizing volunteers and grassroots donors across the nation. The momentum gained during this crucial period is now being channeled to prepare for the upcoming challenges leading into the Labor Day weekend and the approaching November election.
The campaign noted that a significant portion of the donations received during the DNC came from first-time contributors, with two-thirds of them being women. This diversity in the donor base reflects the widespread support for Vice President Harris and her vision for the country. Additionally, nearly 200,000 new volunteer shifts were recorded since the start of the convention, demonstrating a high level of engagement from supporters.
Following President Biden’s departure from the race in July, the Democratic Party swiftly rallied around Vice President Harris, with $200 million of fundraising coming in during the first week after her official entry. The convention itself featured speeches from prominent Democratic figures such as former First Lady Michelle Obama, former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former President Bill Clinton.
Each speaker passionately encouraged Democrats to unite behind Vice President Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. President Biden himself passed the torch to his vice president on the first night of the convention, symbolically paving the way for the new leadership within the party.
As the campaign intensifies its efforts heading into the final stretch, the Harris-Walz coalition is focused on harnessing the energy and support generated during the convention to propel them towards victory in November. With strong fundraising numbers and a dedicated volunteer base, the campaign aims to engage voters across the nation and convey their message of unity, progress, and hope for a better future.
