Kamala Harris’ husband, Douglas Emhoff, has COVID-19.

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff recently tested positive for COVID-19, the White House announced on Sunday. In a statement, his office mentioned that Emhoff tested positive on Saturday after experiencing mild symptoms. Despite being fully vaccinated and boosted three times, he is currently asymptomatic, working remotely, and isolating at home. Vice President Kamala Harris, on the other hand, tested negative for the virus.

President Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff were captured enjoying the fireworks over the National Mall from the White House balcony during a 4th of July event on the South Lawn of the White House on July 4, 2024. They were seen standing near each other during the celebration.

This recent diagnosis comes as the COVID-19 pandemic approaches its four-year mark. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) previously warned that coronavirus infections are on the rise in 44 states and territories. Certain variants, such as FLiRT variants KP.3, KP.2, and KP.1, are contributing to the surge.

Dr. Siegel explains that the new COVID-10 variants are still “immunoevasive,” posing a threat to individuals with prior immunity. He notes that like other respiratory viruses, COVID-19 spreads more easily in low humidity conditions. However, unlike some seasonal viruses, COVID-19 can thrive in warm weather as well.

With cases on the rise in various states, including California, it is essential to remain vigilant and follow recommended safety measures to curb the spread of the virus. The Biden administration has also taken steps to address the ongoing challenges posed by the pandemic.

The recent events remind us of the importance of continuing to prioritize public health and safety as we navigate through the evolving landscape of the COVID-19 pandemic. Stay informed, stay safe, and take care of yourself and others.
