Kamala Harris is helping Joe Biden with his economic policies that led to low job numbers, says Trump’s team.

The Trump campaign has deemed Vice President Kamala Harris as President Biden’s “co-pilot” in what they referred to as “Bidenomics,” which they allege contributed to the disappointing job numbers in July. The U.S. Department of Labor’s report revealed that employers added 114,000 jobs, falling short of the 175,000 gain that economists had anticipated. Additionally, the unemployment rate unexpectedly rose to 4.3%, contrary to the expected steady rate of 4.1%. This marks the highest jobless rate seen since October 2021.

This news has sparked a war of words between the Trump and Harris 2024 campaigns, with both sides releasing ads criticizing each other’s policies on the U.S. southern border. The Trump campaign’s national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, lambasted Harris for her role in supporting spending that fueled inflation and worsened economic conditions for American families. Leavitt accused Harris of neglecting the struggles faced by working families as basic necessities such as food, gas, and housing become less affordable.

The release of the report has heightened concerns about the economy’s stability amidst ongoing issues of inflation and high interest rates. Stock futures plummeted by more than 500 points, reigniting fears of a looming recession. The weaker-than-expected data has prompted questions about whether the Federal Reserve might have delayed cutting interest rates. While policymakers decided to maintain rates at a 23-year high, they hinted at potential policy adjustments as early as September.

The job market saw growth in various sectors, with healthcare leading the way by adding 55,000 new jobs in July. Other sectors that experienced growth include construction (25,000), government (17,000), and transportation and warehousing (14,000). However, some areas exhibited job losses, with information employment declining by 20,000 and financial activities shedding 4,000 employees.

The report also disclosed minor revisions, revising down job gains for June by a total of 27,000 jobs to 179,000. Additionally, May’s job gain was slightly lower at 216,000 jobs.

In response to the poor job report, Harris’ campaign shifted blame to former President Donald Trump, despite his tenure ending nearly a full term ago. The campaign accused Trump of failing Americans during his presidency, resulting in millions of job losses and pushing the economy to the brink of recession. They criticized Trump’s “Project 2025” agenda, which they claim would damage the middle class, raise taxes on working families, and diminish healthcare and social security benefits.

While both campaigns engage in a war of words over the state of the economy, Vice President Harris remains committed to addressing the challenges faced by American families. As the nation navigates through economic uncertainties, the spotlight is on policymakers to initiate measures that will stabilize and stimulate economic growth.
