List of performers and presenters at the 2024 VMAs.
The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are turning 40, and they are gearing up for an epic celebration. With a stellar lineup that includes a fiery host in the form of Megan Thee Stallion and show-openers like the legendary Eminem, this year’s VMAs promise to be unforgettable.
The 2024 VMAs are scheduled to be broadcast live on Wednesday, September 11th, at 8 p.m. ET/PT from New York’s UBS Arena. The show will feature the iconic Katy Perry, set to receive the prestigious Video Vanguard Award and perform a medley of her hits. This will make her the first person in VMA history to host, win Video of the Year, and receive the Vanguard Award, achieving the MTV trifecta.
Presenters for the event will include the likes of Cyndi Lauper, who won a Moon Man at the first-ever VMAs in 1984. The show has now transitioned to using gender-neutral terminology, referring to awards as Moon People. Carson Daly, known for hosting MTV’s iconic TRL show, will also be presenting at the event.
Eminem, a key figure in the music industry, has the opportunity to set a record with the most wins by a male artist in VMA history if he wins in just one of the eight nominated categories.
Taylor Swift leads this year’s nominations with an impressive 12 nods. If she secures five or more wins, she will surpass Beyoncé as the artist with the most VMAs in history. Currently, Beyoncé holds the record with 27 awards, followed by Swift, Madonna, and Lady Gaga.
Newcomers like Teddy Swims, Jessie Murph, and Le Sserafim are set to make their mark with performances at the event. General fan voting has closed, but voting for the Best New Artist category remains open until the show.
With a wide range of social categories added this year, Swift remains the frontrunner with the most nominations. Other notable artists like Post Malone, Eminem, Ariana Grande, and more also have multiple nominations, showcasing the diverse talent at the VMAs.
The 2024 VMAs will be broadcast live on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT across MTV’s various channels, ensuring a global audience. The pre-show, hosted by Nessa, Dometi Pongo, and Kevan Kenney, will air from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on select channels.
