Maggie Haberman Thinks Trump Wants Biden to Run Again
It seems like former President Donald Trump just can’t come to terms with the new reality of the presidential race. Political analyst Maggie Haberman shared her insights during a recent interview on CNN, shedding light on Trump’s refusal to accept the current state of affairs.
Haberman pointed out that Trump is desperately trying to will his preferred version of the race into existence, almost as if he’s attempting to bring Joe Biden back into the competition on his terms. This behavior, she noted, is reminiscent of how Trump handled situations in the past where things didn’t go his way.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Trump consistently downplayed the severity of the situation, focusing instead on touting the strength of the economy and decrying the perceived unfairness of it all. Now, with a different future unfolding before him, Trump appears to be at a loss on how to navigate this new terrain.
As President Biden gracefully bowed out of the race, clearing the path for Vice President Kamala Harris to emerge as the Democratic nominee, Trump’s response has been nothing short of chaotic. Harris has quickly gained momentum, drawing massive crowds at rallies and garnering significant support in terms of donations.
Despite all indications pointing to Biden’s exit from the race, Trump remains insistent that the former president is still somehow involved or planning to re-enter the fray. His social media posts have been filled with wild and unfounded claims, including suggestions that Biden will stage a dramatic comeback at the Democratic National Convention.
Even in the face of a new opponent, Trump continues to direct his attacks towards Biden, labelling the exit from the race as a “coup.” Haberman believes that Trump’s refusal to let go of the idea of Biden as a contender is setting the stage for him to contest the validity of the election results if he doesn’t emerge victorious.
According to Haberman, Trump is laying the groundwork to shift blame and point fingers in case the election outcome doesn’t go his way. This tactic, she noted, is a familiar one that Trump has employed in the past when faced with unfavorable scenarios.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, Trump’s reliance on outdated strategies and refusal to acknowledge the present reality may ultimately prove to be his downfall. It remains to be seen how this refusal to accept change will impact the remainder of the presidential race and its eventual outcome.
