Maxine Waters faces criticism for harsh comments on Trump’s guilty verdict

Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., faced significant criticism on social media for her reaction to the criminal conviction of former President Trump. Following Trump’s conviction, Waters posted on X, “Trump shut your mouth!” accusing the former president of disrespecting the Constitution and calling for him to be silent, stating, “You’re convicted on all counts!”

The post quickly garnered over 1 million views on X and sparked backlash from conservatives online. Former U.S. Attorney Brett Tolman challenged Waters’ claim, stating, “Literally no one who supports Trump nor Trump wants to get rid of the Constitution.” Radio host Mike Sperrazza labeled the situation as “TDS,” or Trump Derangement Syndrome, while author Juanita Broaddrick expressed disdain for the perceived vindictiveness in Waters’ comments.

Moreover, Red State writer Bonchie accused Waters of corruption, alleging that she had laundered over a million dollars in campaign funds to her daughter. These criticisms reflect the ongoing controversy surrounding Waters’ behavior and statements throughout her career.

In the past, Waters came under fire for what many perceived as a call to violence in 2018 when she encouraged her supporters to confront and confront members of the Trump administration in public spaces. While Waters denied promoting violence, the incident contributed to the growing discontent with her actions among her detractors.

The recent criminal conviction of former President Trump on 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree has reignited the debate on social media. Each count carries a maximum prison sentence of four years, totaling a potential maximum of 136 years for Trump.

Shortly after the jury delivered the guilty verdict, Trump addressed reporters, criticizing the trial as rigged and orchestrated by a corrupt and biased judge. Trump denounced the trial as a “disgrace” and emphasized that the true verdict would be delivered by the people in upcoming elections.

The clash between Waters and Trump reflects the deep political divisions and animosities present in contemporary American society. Both figures have provoked strong reactions and polarized opinions, with their actions and statements serving as rallying points for their respective supporters and critics.
