Missouri Attorney General taking action against businesses hiring illegal immigrants.
Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey is taking a strong stance against businesses in his state that choose to hire illegal immigrants. In a bold move, Bailey has declared his intention to step up where the federal government has faltered in dealing with illegal immigration issues.
Recently, Bailey’s office launched an investigation following a complaint about a particular state business employing individuals without proper citizenship documentation. The Attorney General’s office has issued a 15-day ultimatum for the business to furnish evidence of the citizenship status and work eligibility of all its employees.
“At the same time, the State of Missouri has a responsibility to ensure that workers, employers, and businesses are complying with Missouri law,” the official communication from Bailey’s office maintained. “Otherwise, the rule of law is undermined, and there is a potential for abuse, mistreatment, and unfairness. Upholding the rule of law is essential to ensuring that our business communities continue to thrive in this state.”
If any violations of Missouri law concerning the employment of unauthorized aliens are uncovered, the offending business could face severe repercussions, including the revocation of its business license, permit, or exemptions, along with other penalties, as warned by Bailey.
Bailey criticized the incumbent Biden administration for its perceived ineffectiveness in handling the surge of illegal immigration, emphasizing the need for individual states to step in where the federal government is perceived to be failing. In Bailey’s words, states have been left to “stand in the gap as the federal government refuses to act.”
Underlining the seriousness of the situation, Bailey highlighted the alarming statistic that over eight million illegal immigrants have entered the United States since 2021 – a number exceeding the entire population of Missouri. Bailey maintained that such massive illegal immigration numbers could not be attributed to chance but rather to a calculated exploitation of weak enforcement of immigration laws.
In a show of solidarity against what is perceived as federal inaction, Missouri teamed up with 17 other states to file a lawsuit against the Biden administration over a new policy that allegedly facilitated the entry of large numbers of aliens and provided them with swift access to employment opportunities and public benefits.
Speaking out against what he sees as a lax approach to border security, Bailey was quoted as saying, “The situation at the southern border is out of control, all thanks to Joe Biden. He refuses to carry out his constitutionally mandated responsibilities, so we’re taking him to court to force him to do his job.”
Andrew Bailey has reiterated that the burden of illegal immigration ultimately falls on the states, as they are required to bear the costs associated with the presence of unauthorized immigrants within their borders. This responsibility is magnified by what Bailey described as the current worst border crisis in American history, exacerbated by policies that weaken border security and encourage unlawful immigration.

Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird recently voiced her concerns, asserting that every state in the country bears the impact of uncontrolled immigration due to the failure of the Biden administration to secure the southern border.
