Nate Silver advises Biden to quit race after ABC interview.

Nate Silver, a renowned polling expert, recently made a bold statement following President Biden’s Friday night ABC News interview, calling for the president to step down. The 22-minute interview with George Stephanopoulos was supposed to alleviate concerns after Biden’s lackluster debate performance last month, but Silver argued that it only made the situation worse.

Silver criticized Biden’s response during the interview, calling it incoherent and pointing out factual inaccuracies. He particularly highlighted a moment where Biden complained about a New York Times poll, incorrectly stating that he was down 10 points before the debate when it was actually 3 or 4 points.

Despite initially hesitating and deleting a line from his morning column urging Biden to transition the campaign to Vice President Kamala Harris, Silver was convinced after the ABC interview that a change was necessary. He emphasized the need for Biden to formulate a plan to transition the presidency to Harris within a specific timeframe, indicating that “something is clearly wrong here.”

According to Silver, Biden’s demeanor during the interview raised concerns about his command and suitability as Commander in Chief. He expressed his belief that Democrats would intensify pressure on the president to resign, given the apparent issues highlighted by Biden’s responses.

During the interview, Biden attributed his subpar performance and demeanor to fatigue and illness, stating that his time at Camp David in preparation for the debate followed by a trip to Europe had taken a toll on him.

Concerns about Biden’s mental acuity and fitness for the 2024 presidential race have been growing among Democratic allies, who fear that his decline could jeopardize the election. However, the Biden administration and his supporters have consistently dismissed these concerns, asserting that the president remains sharp and that his debate performance was an isolated incident.

As the debate over Biden’s leadership and candidacy continues, the call for him to step down intensifies. Whether Biden will heed these calls or push forward with his campaign remains to be seen, but the pressure on him to address these concerns is mounting.
