New York Senate Democrat won’t be charged for pushing lobbyist before meeting.

New York Senator Faces Allegations

A New York state senator who had to be held back after he allegedly shoved a lobbyist in the Capitol in Albany before a committee meeting on energy and telecommunications will not face charges.

State Sen. Kevin Parker will not be charged after the incident where he allegedly pushed a lobbyist. Parker and the lobbyist, Carey, resolved the issue peacefully after the altercation.

Last week, Carey had been seeking support for a piece of legislation related to state developmental disabilities systems. Carey, who lost his son in state care in 2007, approached Parker ahead of the meeting to discuss the matter.

During their interaction, Carey claims Parker displayed a lack of empathy by saying, “I don’t care,” when Carey mentioned his son’s death. This led to a heated exchange between the two, with Parker allegedly lunging towards Carey before being restrained by onlookers.

Following the incident, Parker made light of the situation during the committee meeting, joking about the excitement in the room and hoping for an entertaining session.

However, this is not the first time Parker has been involved in controversy. In the past, he has faced allegations including a lawsuit accusing him of rape and charges related to assault and criminal mischief.

In 2005, Parker was arrested for assaulting a traffic agent and in the same year, a former aide accused him of physical threats after she spoke out about his behavior towards her. Additionally, in 2010, Parker was convicted of criminal mischief for damaging a photographer’s camera.

Despite these previous incidents, Parker will not be facing charges for the recent altercation with the lobbyist Carey.
